Why do you love boudoir photography?
That is a hard question to answer, because there are so many reasons that I love boudoir. I guess my favorite thing is seeing the transformation in my clients from start to finish. In the beginning, so many of them doubt themselves and think that they aren’t sexy or beautiful. By the end of their boudoir experience, they are absolutely changed – they see themselves in a whole new light. To be able to boost a woman’s confidence and help her love and appreciate her body the way it is…that is extremely rewarding for me as a photographer.

Why do you think women should have a boudoir photo shoot experience?
I can’t even count how many times a client has told me that she has never felt more sexy or more confident than she did after her boudoir shoot. Who doesn’t want to feel that way? In our culture of impossibly high standards, I feel like women NEED this. This is the best way to fall in love with yourself and be able to say “I am beautiful”, and truly believe it!

What is your favorite part of the boudoir experience & interacting with your clients?
Sitting and chatting with my clients during the hair and makeup process is always really fun. We get to know each other on a more personal level during that time. We talk about our families and our lives, and each time it feels like I’m making a new friend. My makeup artist, Veronica, is there as well – and when you get three girls together playing with hair and makeup and wardrobe and sipping wine and laughing…it’s like a mini-party. When I’m in that moment I sometimes can’t believe this is my job. It’s too much fun!

What piece of advice do you have for women searching for a boudoir photographer?
I think the first step is to explore and find someone whose work you fall in love with. Next, take the time to look at their entire website (not just the portfolio and pricing info). Read their policies, see if they have a mission statement, check out their blog. If there is an “about” page – read it! Once you find a photographer you like, see if they have reviews posted anywhere (Yelp, Facebook, etc.). Mostly though, go with your gut. I think when you find the right place, it will just feel right. You will feel comfortable and excited to work with that person, which is definitely how it should be!

Just for fun – Do you have a favorite visually inspiring music video?

ANYTHING by Lady Gaga – I love how she pushes the boundaries of what is traditionally considered beautiful. I can really relate to that. I admire her guts and the fact that she doesn’t really care what others think – she just puts it all out there and does what she believes in. I think we could all be a little bit more like that. My most recent favorite is Applause – it is so entertaining – I never get tired of Gaga!  Lady gaga- “Applause

What are you listening to right now?
I love music! I recently discovered Spotify (I know, where have I been?), so I have been obsessed with that. I’ve been discovering lots of new music, and reminiscing on some old tunes that I love too. I enjoy lots of different music styles, so what I’m listening to really depends on my mood that particular day. Today I was all about Nirvana, which is one of my all-time favorite bands.

Favorite trend for boudoir right now?
Timelessness. I see so many images that are beautiful now, and will still be beautiful 30 years from now. I think every woman wants images that she will love forever – that she can look at many years down the road and still be proud of.

What are your favorite songs to play during a shoot to pump up your client?
My studio playlist is very eclectic. As I mentioned before, I love many different types of music, so I normally have a little bit of everything thrown in.

If you could shoot anywhere on the planet, what location would you choose and why?

Anywhere in Europe – there is so much romance there. To shoot in a castle would be amazing!

If you’re searching for a boudoir photographer in the Fresno area, we recommend Melissa at Wicked Haute ! Thank you so much, Melissa, for contributing to the Boudoir International blog!

What was your overall vision for the shoot, or – how did you decide to shoot this concept?
With a movie hot on its heels, the infamous book, 50 Shades of Grey recently peaked with over 100 million copies sold. It’s no wonder then Boudoir photography has also reached an all time high in popularity. As an on trend groom’s gift and exquisite confidence booster, Boudoir is definitely the new black, or grey as it were.

There are few things in this world a woman can do to affect her inner presence–that small part of herself that is exhilarated when she knows she looks (and therefore feels) positively gorgeous. At dani fine photography, that really is what boudoir is all about. It is the glamorous and confidence-boosting experience of seeing one’s self in a different light…a very tasteful, yet sexy light; like the way Christian Grey sees Anastasia Steele. The exclusively female team at dani fine photography offers clients a completely private and guided session, “ We are a business for women, by women. Because of this, we are really in touch with what our clients want and need. We know how to make them look and feel fabulous. Boudoir really is a gift for yourself, if your partner also receives something ~that’s the icing on the cake!” To see more boudoir from dani fine photography, check out their website (http://www.daniphotography.com/) and Facebook page

How did you feel as you were preparing for the shoot?
Excited!!! I had so many ideas & visions of what I wanted for my photo shoot.
Any advice for ladies thinking about doing a boudoir shoot?
It really helps when you have an idea of what you imagine yourself being. For example, one of my looks was Victoria Secret with angel wings…keep those thoughts as your shooting. Also, finding photos in magazines or fashion blogs of poses you love & outfits you love…It helps you prepare your wardrobe & also give your photographer a better description of what you want your pictures to look like.
Your favorite moment of the whole experience?
It had to be shooting with angel wings! I felt really sexy & dreamy like I was Victoria Secret model! LOL!!
Lingerie/shoes/accessories – any thing you want to share about what you wore, where you shopped, links etc?
Victoria Secret lingerie, wings from hustler boutique
Just for fun: Define what SEXINESS &/OR BEAUTY means to you.
I believe sexiness & beauty is just being confident in yourself & the person God created you to be. Exactly who you are- because he did not make a mistake when he created you. Even with all the imperfections you think you have, to God you are perfect. And if he says so, no one else matters.
Just for fun favorites: share your favorite lyrics from a song, or a favorite quote.
I can do all things trough God who gives me strength!!

Shaunae Teske Photography | Real Boudoir | Green Bay, Wisconsin Boudoir Photographer

By | Real Boudoir | No Comments

Shaunae Teske is a boudoir photographer in Green Bay Wisconsin.  Today we’re showcasing her shoot with Cassandra (who reminds us of a Hollywood movie star!) Shaunae has photographed Cassandra five times and has loved her experience each time. In her words, “Every shoot with her is fresh and wonderful. She has such a positive energy and my heart always feels lighter after our time together. Just talking with her makes me smile! Consider yourself lucky if you ever get to meet her. She is truly a gift to our world.”
shaunepsdclip

Although early on in her pregnancy, Cassandra was pregnant during this particular shoot. According to Cassandra, [having a child] “is a most selfless thing to not only share your body with another living soul but to surrender control of it completely. Motherhood is indeed one of life’s greatest gifts, but that of course comes at a price. For parts of oneself must be laid to rest in order to make way for new life. It is a common misconception that children destroy our bodies when in truth they help them evolve perfectly. From the empty shell of our old selves, we emerge stronger and more beautiful than ever before. No woman should be made to feel ashamed during this time, as if she needs to be hidden away. Our ever changing forms remind us of the true strength and power that we are capable of, because it is within our weakest moments that we discover that our greatness knows no bounds. With each struggle we face, we must find the courage within ourselves to persevere not only as individuals but as a whole. From Maiden to Mother, Mother to Crone every stage of a woman’s existence should be glorified and honored to the highest regard.”

Cassandra is radiant inside-out, and we are so pleased to share her words of wisdom and stunning images with you. Thank you, Shaunae, for capturing such gorgeous images and sharing them with us.

Agi-M-Real-Boudoir- AgiM1 AgiM2

Why did you want to do a boudoir shoot?

It was initially for the boyfriend as a Christmas gift but I have enjoyed it so much that it felt like a gift to me instead. I am planning my next boudoir already!

How did you choose your photographer?

A lot of research! There are a lot of boudoir photographers around however I ended up choosing AgiM Photography as the gallery took my breathe away. Agi manages to capture women in way that empowers them and it was exactly how I wanted to be portrayed for my first boudoir shoot. I felt she really understood what I wanted to achieve and helped me to get there.

How did you feel as you were preparing for the shoot?
I was very nervous at first but Agi and her team made feel instantly at ease. Agi was very supportive by sending a lot of suggestions on how to prepare for the shoot and during the shoot.

Any advice for ladies thinking about doing a boudoir shoot?

Do it! Boudoir captures one’s inner goddess and the experience will last a lifetime!

Just for fun: Define what SEXINESS &/OR BEAUTY means to you.
Sexiness to me is about being confident in your own skin and there’s no better way to capture it then with boudoir photography!

Just for fun favorites: share your favorite lyrics from a song, or a favorite quote.

Real Boudoir | Boudoir le Blanc | Manila boudoir photographers

By | Real Boudoir | No Comments

These beautiful images are of real boudoir client, Dawn, photographed by Tooney White at Boudoir le Blanc. Dawn’s favorite moment was her “first laugh on set.” In her words, “as soon as I started smiling and laughing, I felt myself relax, and Tooney made that easy. I felt like I was back in a quiet space with someone I loved.”
Real-Boudoir-Boudoirleblanc boudoir-le-blanc

Why did you want to do a boudoir shoot?
It had never crossed my mind to do a boudoir shoot before I saw the Boudoir Le Blanc page. After checking out some of their albums, I began to fall in love with the idea. There was something so poetic about the way these women were shot, and how sexy they looked in their simplicity. Previously I’d worked in a publishing company where my colleagues spent days photo-shopping women into “perfection”, and it made me cringe sometimes. These Boudoir ladies looked so relaxed and effortlessly lovely, I couldn’t help but smile.

I’m pretty self-conscious, and a few months ago I didn’t think I could pull off something like this. Slowly though, the idea grew on me. I knew I wanted the shoot to be true to my personality. I didn’t want to have to try too hard and end up looking like someone I’m not. I’m a really simple girl, quiet and a little shy, but I’m also really playful. And then of course, I just love Christmas lights and cozy spaces. As much as I’d like to be a beach babe, I’m more of a cold weather girl who likes nestling into an armchair with a good book and a cup of hot chocolate. I wanted my shoot to capture that.

How did you choose your photographer?

Tooney and Heather are friends of mine, so I knew I’d feel comfortable doing this with them. And the fact that they’re an all-girl team relieved me. Tina, who handles the in-house hair and makeup team, is phenomenal! I came in feeling nervous and frazzled, but they immediately worked their magic and made me feel gorgeous. They knew how help me relax, and trust was a huge factor.

I also chose Boudoir Le Blanc because I knew they’d take care of EVERYTHING. Most companies just offer photography services, but with these girls, I didn’t have to worry about booking a makeup artist, stylist, or venue separately–it was all part of the package. I have a really hectic schedule, and coordinating shoots and events is part of my job, so the fact that they were taking care of all that really sealed the deal for me.

How did you feel as you were preparing for the shoot?
I was excited and nervous! We started collecting pegs way in advance, and we slowly pieced together the exact feel and looks that I wanted. The team was personally involved every step of the way, and it was so much fun. It was like getting ready for a party with my girlfriends. As the shoot date neared though, I started worrying about my figure. I had to give myself little pep talks, “I am enough, and there’s no better time to do this than now!” The last preparation, right before we started the shoot, was a shot of Jack. That did wonders!

Any advice for ladies thinking about doing a boudoir shoot?
These photos (and the whole experience!) are such beautiful keepsakes, and I think every woman should have her own set. Like I told Tooney and Heather, I’m going to treasure mine for a long time–throughout my 20’s, when I’m married, and when I’m 90 years old, I know I’ll look back at these and smile at how young and radiant was. If you don’t think you’re sexy enough now, you’ll probably never feel ready. You are enough, today as you are, and you just need a few girlfriends and a shot or two to bring out your own brand of sexy.

Your favorite moment of the whole experience?

My favorite moment was the first laugh on set. As soon as I started smiling and laughing, I felt myself relax, and Tooney made that easy. I felt like I was back in a quiet space with someone I loved. But really, I enjoyed the entire experience. From the Pinterest peg-hunting, to set design, to the poses, to the photo selection and editing—everything was tastefully and thoughtfully done.

Any thing you want to share about what you wore, where you shopped, etc?

I didn’t want to buy too many new things. I was going for a natural, laid back look anyway, so I didn’t feel it was necessary. I just wanted to focus to be on me and not on the lingerie.

Just for fun: Define what SEXINESS &/OR BEAUTY means to you.

I think sexiness is totally unique to every girl. It’s in the finest details of her personality, and in those intimate moments when she lets her guard down. I don’t think you can bring it out with the perfect pose or outfit, I think it naturally shines through when you’re around the right people, when you’re thinking happy thoughts. These days, I think it’s easy for us to feel like we’re always one step behind supermodels; like we’ll never be pretty enough or skinny enough. But it’s all about loving ourselves in our totality, right? Playing up our strengths, and rediscovering our beauty through the right “lens”.

Did this experience change the way you see yourself, or the way you think of beauty? Anything else you want to share about your experience?
This experience is especially meaningful to me right now. When I did the shoot I was in a relationship, but when I got the photos, it had ended. It’s a funny twist of fate, but what better way to boost your confidence than to see yourself in gorgeous photos, right? Boudoir Le Blanc did a wonderful thing for me. I feel sexy, classy, and empowered! Whatever insecurities or worries I had regarding the shoot are totally gone. Bravo, Boudoir Le Blanc team! When a woman can feel beautiful in her most basic form, in her most vulnerable state, and in her most intimate space–that is truly amazing.

Thank you Dawn and Tooney for sharing these gorgeous images! If you’re searching for a boudoir photographer in the Manila area, please contact Boudoir le Blanc. You may also access their website here.

Thank you Boudoir le Blanc for contributing to Boudoir International!

Real Boudoir | Adoralee Boudoir Studio | Norman Boudoir Photographer

By | Real Boudoir | No Comments

This Valentine’s Day inspired Boudoir Session was photographed by Boudoir International member Lacy R. Hammack of Adoralee Boudoir Studio in Norman, Oklahoma! Lacy asked Ashley (her employee) to model for a Valentine’s promo and these are some of the images from that shoot! We also got the scoop on what it was like from Ashley’s perspective. We love her favorite quote from Alan Alda; “You have to leave the city of your comfort zone and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you’ll discover will be wonderful. What you’ll discover is yourself.” Thank you Ashley, and thank you Lacy for sharing your Valentine’s Day Boudoir Shoot!
Adoralee-Real-Boudoir- normanboudoir
How did you feel as you were preparing for the shoot?
When Lacy called me as asked me to model for the Valentine’s day promo I was immediately filled with a mixture of feelings. I was nervous, excited, scared, & hesitant but I knew that Lacy would take good care of me and understand my body issues. In 2012 I had lost 60 pounds then found out I was pregnant March of 2013 and I had pretty much gained it all back, so with just having a baby at the end of Nov. needless to say I was not feeling majorly sexy spending my days and nights with feedings, changings, spit up, & the lack of confidence as my body wasn’t even close to where it was.

Any advice for ladies thinking about doing a boudoir shoot?
do your research on boudoir photographers, make sure that they know what they are doing and have plenty of experience in this style of photography. Once you find the right photographer Do it & trust your photographer! I was so nervous as to my post 5 weeks baby body that I almost called Lacy and backed out but I knew I needed something to make me feel better. I trusted that Lacy would hear my concerns and trusted that she would make me feel great.

Your favorite moment of the whole experience?
Getting to see the images in the camera. I knew Lacy was making me look my best when she would show me an image and do her “happy dance” it made me feel so much better immediately.

Just for fun: Define what SEXINESS &/OR BEAUTY means to you.

Beauty for me is not just what is on the outside. It radiates from the soul & the mind. It is accepting your imperfections and embracing your unique qualities.

Just for fun favorites: share your favorite lyrics from a song, or a favorite quote.

Did this experience change the way you see yourself, or the way you think of beauty? Anything else you want to share about your experience?
At the end of the day I was so excited to see my images and that I did it. I walked into the studio feeling like a new mom completely consumed by my baby and family life and walked out feeling sexy confident.

Today’s real boudoir session is courtesy of Calgary boudoir photographer Perry Thompson of Foxy Boudoir. His client, Miss J, scheduled her shoot as a wedding gift to surprise her husband! We share her photos and interview below. Enjoy this real boudoir from Foxy Boudoir on Boudoir International!

Foxy-Real-Boudoir
foxyboudoir

How did you choose your photographer?
Word of mouth. I have a friend that had worked with Perry in the past for the same project type. She gave him a great review so I looked into Foxy Boudoir, and liked what I saw!

How did you feel as you were preparing for the shoot?
Nervous and excited!

Any advice for ladies thinking about doing a boudoir shoot?
Don’t think about it, just go for it! You won’t regret it!

Your favorite moment of the whole experience?
My favorite moment was when a young man working at the lumber yard saw me posing and almost drove into the side of a building.

Any thing you want to share about what you wore, where you shopped, links etc?
I wore all Victoria Secret lingerie, but I suggest mixing in other materials for an edge. Like a leather jacket, fur sash, satin robe or a kick ass pair of shoes. Sergio Rossi Mermaid Booties to be exact. They were my favorite accessory of the day!

Just for fun: Define what SEXINESS &/OR BEAUTY means to you.

Sexiness is confidence. Every girl can be sexy, she just needs to realize that it’s something that comes from inside of you. It doesn’t matter how expensive your lingerie is or how perfect your makeup looks; if that sense of empowerment isn’t radiating from the inside out – you won’t truly feel it or look it. Tap into that inner goddess and work it girl!!

Did this experience change the way you see yourself, or the way you think of beauty? Anything else you want to share about your experience?

Of course this experience changed the way I see myself! I’ve never done anything like this before. It felt incredible when I saw how excited my husband was looking at these pictures of me. I think I blew his mind a little!

Thank you Miss J and Perry Thompson! If you’re looking for a boudoir photographer in the Calgary area, please visit Foxy Boudoir on Boudoir International. You can also check out his website here: Calgary Boudoir

Real Boudoir client Sarah poignantly expresses, “beauty is impossible to define because it can be found in all things.” Sarah was photographed by Brittany Lynn Jacobs Du’Monceaux of Render Photography in Minneapolis. Today she gives us an in-depth look at her boudoir experience. We are glad to share her story and Brittany’s photographs of such a beauty with you. Read her interview below!

Render_Real_Boudoir

Render_photography_RealBoudoir

Why did you want to do a boudoir shoot?
Honestly, I’ve always been very self-conscious about my body and the idea of doing a boudoir shoot pretty much terrified me. I wanted to face my fear and prove to myself that I could be comfortable in my own skin. I was still getting over a recent breakup and wanted to do something that would make me feel beautiful. I knew that if I just let go of my preconceived notions and left my insecurities at the door, my photographer would be able to capture my true beauty so that I could see it in the photos. It wasn’t until I got the pictures back that I really saw the magic that took place during the photo shoot. At the time the pictures were being taken, once I got over my nerves with a glass of wine or two and a few laughs with my photographer, I was too busy having fun to know or care what was going on. It was such a liberating experience!

How did you choose your photographer?
It was easy for me to choose because I knew Britt. I’ve known her for many years and she happens to be a dear friend of mine! Even though I was already comfortable with her it’s still nerve-racking to get in front of a camera no matter who the photographer is. Britt is unique though in that she gives off such a down-to-earth, nonjudgmental attitude. She is so good at what she does – giving clear and precise directions – but also just creating that comfortable, fun atmosphere that you need in order to relax and be yourself in front of the camera.

How did you feel as you were preparing for the shoot?
It’s funny that you ask this question because I booked the shoot about a month in advance and figured that I would have all this time to prepare by watching what I ate and working out hardcore beforehand so I could look my best. It turns out that fate stepped in and I developed a pretty significant ankle/foot injury that prevented me from even walking without crutches, let alone working out! It was humbling because I realized that I had to just accept myself for what I was and how I looked in that moment. It was the kick in the butt that I needed from the universe to just let go and be myself.

Any advice for ladies thinking about doing a boudoir shoot?
My advice is to DO IT! You seriously will not regret it. The hardest part is just getting the courage to schedule the photo shoot. Once you get in front of the camera, (especially if Britt is working the magic on the other side) you will have so much fun and be amazed with the end result. Your perspective on beauty and on yourself will be forever changed in a positive way.

Your favorite moment of the whole experience?
Hmmm….. so hard to pick just one! I had a blast the whole time, but I think right after the very last picture was taken and Britt said “that’s a wrap!” – I only say that because the sense of accomplishment I felt was so awesome in that moment. I just wanted to yell out to the world “I DID IT!” I had the courage to do a boudoir shoot and it feels so good!!

Any thing you want to share about what you wore, where you shopped, links etc?
I got some super cute things from Frederick’s of Hollywood but I also just used a men’s dress shirt and boyshort panties. Word of advice – high heels!! DEFINITELY wear high heels because you’ll feel sexy in them and your legs will look amazing!

Just for fun: Define what SEXINESS &/OR BEAUTY means to you.
Sexiness isn’t about letting it all hang out – and I’m not just talking about your body. The mystery behind what makes a woman tick and what lies underneath is what makes us sexy. Beauty is impossible to define because it can be found in all things, but in this context, I can say only one thing – EYES. I believe that the eyes are the windows to the soul, and that is where your REAL beauty comes from.

Just for fun favorites: share your favorite lyrics from a song, or a favorite quote.
I love this quote from Rumi: “The wound is the place where the Light enters you.”

Did this experience change the way you see yourself, or the way you think of beauty? Anything else you want to share about your experience?
It completely changed the way I see myself, but also the way I see other women- we are all struggling with the same insecurities. Once I was given that opportunity to let go, even if for only the span of a few hours for a photo shoot, I felt inspired to create that environment for all of my sisters out there in the world. We each have the power to provide that feeling of complete acceptance for the people who cross our path. By doing that we allow true beauty to flow outwards where it deserves to be recognized and appreciated.

If you’re looking for a boudoir photographer in the Minneapolis area, please visit Render Photography on Boudoir International. You can also view Brittany’s photography website.

Thank you so much to both Sarah and Brittany for taking the time to share your photos and experience with us!
