This video will serve as more than enough inspiration to make this holiday your most romantic and sexiest ever! I think we can all agree that a boudoir book would be hands the sexiest gift you could ever gift your man.
What we love most about being a boudoir photographers is that we are all about reminding women to own and enjoy what they have right now. To focus on the positives, that all of us have a unique beauty and to embrace that. And to remember that we don’t have to let society’s crap version of what “beauty” is influence our perception of our own beauty. We can realign our thoughts with positivity and self affirmation. That we can decide and say what is beautiful and be a light that shines beauty everywhere, more in attitude and grace than looks. We speak on behalf of all boudoir photographers that we want to be a cheerleader the day of your shoot, making you feel comfortable in your own skin. And we want you to walk away from the experience with a new attitude and self appreciation. Maybe it’s time for you to Believe in Beauty….
This kind client said it the best, and in fact if you want to watch here entire testimonial it’s on the video below. Here is the initial email she sent us…
“I was once again, stunned speechless as I beheld my beautiful photo album in my hands. I felt, and still feel, choked up in gratitude, appreciation and sincere thankfulness. Emotions that are welling up from the soul because of giving me such a deeply personal and truly unique gift that no other person has. Your lovely team that day has shown me a beautiful side to myself that I’ve never seen. And now that you’ve allowed me to peer behind the heavy curtains of self doubt and dancing threads of insecurities, a mystical force of confidence has seared itself into my character which allows me to fight those horrible thoughts, perhaps forever!
If I were to wish any one thing for all of womenkind, is to spend the afternoon with your girls, such as the wonderous day that I had, all for the sake of “gifting” unto them what I have been blessed to have received. Please, please, please pass onto the entire staff my heartfelt thank you! ♥
“Comparison is the thief of joy”- Theodore Roosevelt
Like we mentioned earlier, it is “Self Awareness” month, and we think a big part of that is paying attention to what goes on in our thought process throughout the day, and unfortunately for most of us comparison is a big one. Whether it’s comparing physical appearance, smarts, wealth, personalities, activities, the list can go on and on. We don’t want to do it, and we certainly don’t mean to do it, but alas……we do. For Self Awareness month we are inviting you to try to recognize those thoughts when they pop up, take them captive, and chuck them out of your brain and stomp on the thought, realize it’s only holding your back from joy and self acceptance. Everyday woman tell us that they want to book a photo shoot, but they want to hit the gym first so they can look as hot as all the women on our galleries, and our photo shoots are just not about that. They are about looking like you, and celebrating YOU. When you walk into our studio it’s totally affirming yourself, saying “dammit I love myself, I am grateful for the body I do have and I am going to give myself some serious positive affirmation today!!!!”
Comparing yourself to others is an act of violence against your authentic self. ~ Iyanla Vanzant
We are all made uniquely beautiful and totally DIFFERENT. We certainly don’t need to look like someone else! We wanted to take a moment to give “Dove” a serious shout out for the “Real Beauty”" campaign. They are saying different is awesome, society’s idea of beauty is jacked, and life is too short not to embrace who you are, and we TOTALLY AGREE!!!!
You can tell they sincerely care about their audience and the message that they are sending!! As opposed to maybe some other companies our there????
September is “Self Awareness” month. So all of us here at Boudoir International are encouraging ladies, and ourselves, to gear up for this special month by considering self awareness, which we are loving the description of that as achieving total self acceptance and long-term personal happiness.
I really enjoyed reading this article that spelled it out a little more clearly as this…
“Often, people are unable to see themselves as others see them, as their reality is different than most (self image, internally and externally). They prefer to focus only on the aspects of their being that make them feel good about themselves. Or contrarily, some prefer to focus only on the negative aspects. The dichotomy reflects an inability to be objectionable with oneself.
The habit of pushing the ‘bad parts’ out of their conscious eases the mental stress of having to deal with those issues, as positive change requires humble effort, so they choose to not accept those negative aspects when they look at themselves in the mirror.
Conversely, some people tend to sway in the opposite direction and focus only on the negativity. They continuously find fault within themselves which becomes a barrier in acknowledging the good qualities they possess, therefore hindering long-term personal happiness.
Denials are barriers in self awareness. Individuals need to accept all the parts of their being, good and bad, to begin a happy journey in life.” - The Examiner
Sexiness is different to everyone. It depends on your mood, maybe what you like to wear, or maybe even what you think is deemed a “sexy” location. Ask us and we will always say that Paris is the “sexiest” city in the world. Now onto the definition of boudoir photography, every photographers definition may vary, but for us, it’s sexy photos of a woman that make her feel incredible! So now combine our loose definition of sexy with our lovely definition of boudoir, and you might be able to say this video and images make the cut for this blog. Either way, we want to encourage women that boudoir photos doesn’t have to mean racy lingerie, or the lack of any lingerie, hee hee. You can take gorgeous sexy photos in a dress, or a sweater and jeans. And if you find a location that is a sexy too, well that’s is just icing on the cake!
What boudoir photographers all seem to have in common is the belief that every woman is uniquely beautiful and the desire to showcase each person’s uniqueness. It seems that most women tend to look more for perfection in themselves, rather than seeing what beauty others see in us. We think that a boudoir shoot is an amazing way to give yourself the opportunity to throw away the idea that perfection is necessary, and instead embrace all the positives. Strong healthy legs, smile lines from a life of laughter, strong shoulders from picking up kiddos, hips that definitely remind you you are all woman, and the list continues.

I know this isn’t a boudoir photography video. But something about it just gets me all…. (and I am sure I am not alone as a boudoir photographer thinking this)… sappy about wanting every gal to feel as womanly as Natalie Portman is obviously feeling in this yummy, happy, sexy video. Every woman deserves to feel that! To ignite that little part of her sweet woman heart that says, “dang I’m lovely aren’t I!?!” Lol. Well, you may feel something different after watching this, maybe you just want to go buy perfume…. or maybe it will be that push to finally book that boudoir shoot you have been dreaming of…..

A boudoir shoot isn’t just about gorgeous photos, it’s a decision to say I am beautiful as I am. A new chapter in your life that says…I love who I am… I AM BEAUTIFUL.
We see all kinds of woman walk through our door, but more often that not at the start of a shoot we see a gorgeous, sexy, smart, strong, healthy woman….. who swears she needs to lose ten-twenty lbs. Buzz kill ;( Which is never true. What we love about women who get up the courage to do a boudoir shoot is that somewhere during the process of the photo shoot you see their mentalities start to shift. They get into it, they are feeling it, the jitters are gone and what’s left is raw confidence. Then they see images and it’s like they now understand what everyone else sees when they are looking at them. They grab hold of that new vision and most often decide that THIS is the new vision that have of themselves. This is who they are. Not the false negative version they have been holding in their heads….. it’s a new chapter and we love it. As boudoir photographers we feel beyond blessed to be a part of it!
Boudoir photographers out there, if you would like to re-post this, go for it! We just ask that you please link back to the blog. Boudoir photogs unite!
“I will hold myself to a standard of grace not perfection”.
We have so many clients tell us that they want to book and boudoir shoot, but first they have to work on (fill in the blank). Whether it’s lose a few pounds, work on their tushie toning, or grown their hair out, the of reasons to not feel up to par for us ladies is endless sometimes. Writing this post, I feel equally as guilty.
But what if instead of striving for perfection, we just gave ourselves a little bit of grace and saw the all the good. What if were grateful for that instead of picking ourselves apart? Try finding parts of your that are strong, health and beautiful and celebrate THAT!
What we love about boudoir photography, is that the women that do say, “okay, I am going to do this regarless of the fact that I have been putting this off because I feel like I need to lose 20 lbs”, leave the boudoir experience thinking, “dang, I look great!! What was I thinking!” And so today we invite you to view yourself through eyes and a posture of grace and gratitude. Ah….. it feels so good doesn’t it?
